Cinémathèque Française

Lack of innovation made young film lovers seek a different narrative. To discuss their common passion for films, cinephiles met at Film Clubs. Especially La Cinemathèque Française, a small screening room in Paris founded by Henri Langlois in 1948. Future important directors of La Nouvelle Vague like François Truffaut and Jean-Luc Godard would get their education of film and critical minds at La Cinemathèque. It was a place for them to debate about cinema and ultimately learn from different styles, techniques and ideas. They would get inspired by Orson Wells and Alfred Hitchcock, who would become great influences of the French New Wave.
